Operating Instructions
Operating instructions are mandatory product-related documents that describe the safe installation, operation, maintenance and, where applicable, disposal of a product or industrial system. Within the framework of EAC certification, operating instructions are considered a safety-relevant part of the technical documentation in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Missing, incomplete or incorrect instructions may result in rejection of the conformity assessment or denial of market access.
The Technical Regulations of the EAEU (TR EAEU / TR CU) require operating instructions in Russian language for many product categories. In some cases, additional languages of individual EAEU member states may also be required. The documentation must generally include safety instructions, technical specifications, manufacturer information, intended use descriptions as well as transportation, storage and maintenance instructions. The exact requirements depend on the applicable Technical Regulations and relevant GOST standards.
For machinery, industrial equipment, electrical devices and explosion-protected products in particular, the quality of the operating instructions is an essential part of the overall safety assessment. In practice, operating instructions are often underestimated, although certification bodies and authorities regularly review them during conformity assessment procedures.
