Technical File
A Technical File is the structured collection of all technical, safety-related and regulatory documents related to a product. It serves as the central proof that a product complies with the Technical Regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and may be legally placed on the market. Within EAC certification procedures, the Technical File is one of the most important foundations of the entire conformity assessment process.
The Eurasian Economic Union includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. Within this common market, the Technical Regulations of the EAEU (TR EAEU / TR CU) require manufacturers to prepare and maintain complete technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
The Technical File contains all documents necessary to evaluate product safety and regulatory compliance. The Technical File forms the basis for regulatory evaluation by accredited certification bodies and testing laboratories. During EAC conformity assessment procedures, the responsible organizations verify whether the documentation is complete, technically consistent and regulatorily compliant.
One of the key components of the Technical File is the product risk assessment or hazard analysis. This documentation demonstrates which risks were identified and which protective measures were implemented to reduce those risks. Compliant operating instructions and technical markings are also essential elements of the Technical File.
For the EAEU market, large parts of the Technical File must be available in Russian language. Incorrect translations, inconsistent technical information and incomplete documentation are among the most common causes of delays and findings during certification procedures.
The Technical File must be archived throughout the validity period of the certification and often beyond, so it can be presented to authorities or certification bodies upon request.
