Metrological Certification

Metrological certification is the official procedure used to verify and approve measuring instruments regarding accuracy, reliability and compliant measurement performance. For exports to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), metrological certification is mandatory for many measuring, analytical, weighing and control devices. Without successful metrological certification, many measuring instruments may neither be legally used nor placed on the market in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.

The Eurasian Economic Union has its own regulatory framework for metrology and state supervision of measuring instruments. The objective is to ensure that measuring devices provide reliable and reproducible measurement results and comply with the legal requirements of their intended applications. This is particularly important for industrial equipment, energy systems, medical devices, laboratory applications and legally controlled measurements.

The legal basis includes Technical Regulations of the EAEU (TR EAEU / TR CU), national metrology regulations and applicable GOST standards. During metrological certification, the technical characteristics, measurement accuracy, long-term stability and functional reliability of the device are evaluated. The certification process is performed by accredited metrological institutes or officially recognized testing bodies.

A key element of the procedure is often the approval of the measuring instrument type and its registration within the official state register of approved measuring instruments. Only after successful registration may the device be officially used or sold within the EAEU. Depending on the product category, periodic calibration or verification procedures may also be required.

Metrological certification differs from standard EAC certification procedures but is frequently closely connected to them. Many products require both metrological approval and EAC conformity assessment, particularly when electrical safety, EMC or machinery safety requirements additionally apply.

Typical product categories include sensors, pressure measuring devices, flow meters, laboratory instruments, weighing systems, energy meters, temperature measurement devices and industrial analytical systems. Regulatory requirements strongly depend on the intended application and measurement accuracy class of the device.

In practice, incomplete technical documentation, incorrect measurement specifications or missing translations are among the most common causes of delays during metrological certification procedures. Early regulatory evaluation is therefore highly important.

We support manufacturers and exporters throughout the complete metrological certification and registration process within the EAEU. Our services include product classification, technical documentation, coordination of accredited testing, professional translations and registration within official measuring instrument registers. This ensures legally compliant and reliable market access for measuring instruments throughout the Eurasian Economic Union.
