Testing Methods
Testing methods are standardized technical procedures used to evaluate products for safety, functionality, quality and regulatory compliance within conformity assessment procedures. For exports to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the correct testing methods are essential because only tests performed according to applicable regulatory requirements are accepted as valid evidence for EAC certification or EAC declaration procedures.
The Eurasian Economic Union includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. Within this common market, Technical Regulations of the EAEU (TR EAEU / TR CU) together with applicable GOST standards define the required testing procedures and evaluation criteria for different product categories. Testing methods precisely specify how a product must be tested and under which conditions the results are considered valid.
Depending on the product type, testing methods may cover electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), mechanical strength, pressure resistance, explosion protection, chemical resistance, temperature behavior or material properties. Particularly for safety-critical products, detailed and compliant testing procedures are mandatory.
The tests are performed by accredited laboratories whose accreditation scope defines which testing methods they are authorized to apply. Test reports issued by non-accredited laboratories or based on non-approved methods are generally not accepted by certification bodies.
An essential part of testing methods includes defined testing parameters, measurement conditions, tolerances and evaluation limits. This ensures that results are reproducible, comparable and regulatorily reliable. The results are documented in official test reports and become part of the technical documentation.
Selection of the correct testing methods directly depends on product classification and the applicable Technical Regulations. Many products are simultaneously subject to multiple regulatory requirements, such as low voltage safety, EMC, RoHS, pressure equipment or machinery safety regulations. As a result, multiple testing methods may be required in parallel.
In practice, incorrect testing methods, unsuitable test samples or incomplete technical documentation are among the most common causes of delays and repeated testing procedures. Early regulatory analysis significantly reduces time and costs.
We support manufacturers and exporters in selecting and implementing the correct testing methods within the EAEU. Our services include product classification, definition of testing programs, coordination of accredited laboratories, technical documentation and regulatory support through the complete EAC certification or EAC declaration process. This ensures reliable and legally compliant market access throughout the Eurasian Economic Union.
