Inspection Control
Inspection control is the regular surveillance of certified products and manufacturing processes during the validity period of an EAC serial production certificate. Its purpose is to ensure that products continue to comply with the Technical Regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and that manufacturing remains consistently compliant with regulatory requirements. Inspection control is therefore a key element of ongoing production surveillance within the EAC certification system.
The legal basis is defined by the Technical Regulations of the EAEU (TR EAEU / TR CU) and the applicable certification schemes for serial production. For many serial production certificates, inspection control is mandatory and is usually performed annually by an accredited certification body. Failure to successfully complete inspection controls may result in suspension or withdrawal of the certificate.
During inspection control, the certification body evaluates production consistency, compliance with technical requirements and the effectiveness of the manufacturer’s quality assurance procedures. This may include on-site audits, document reviews, production assessments or repeated product testing. In many cases, additional product samples are taken and tested again by accredited laboratories.
Inspection control is closely linked to the original factory production control and certification audit. While the initial certification confirms basic product conformity, inspection control ensures ongoing compliance throughout the entire validity period of the certificate. Continuous production consistency is especially important for machinery, pressure equipment, electrical products and explosion-protected devices.
Common issues identified during inspection control include changes to product design, components or manufacturing processes without proper regulatory reassessment. Incomplete quality records or outdated technical documentation also frequently lead to non-conformities identified by certification bodies.
If serious deviations are detected, the certification body may require additional testing or temporarily suspend the certificate. This can immediately affect market access within the EAEU. Careful preparation and continuous maintenance of technical documentation are therefore essential.
