Serial Production Certification
Serial production certification is a certification procedure for products that are manufactured continuously and in larger quantities. Unlike batch certification, this procedure does not apply to a single shipment but covers ongoing serial production over a defined period of time. For manufacturers regularly exporting to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), serial production certification is the most important and economically efficient solution for long-term market access.
The Eurasian Economic Union includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. Within this common market, many Technical Regulations of the EAEU (TR EAEU / TR CU) require certification based on serial production schemes for specific product categories. This is particularly relevant for machinery, electrical equipment, industrial installations, pressure equipment and other safety-related products.
Within the serial production certification process, not only the individual product but also the manufacturer’s ability to consistently produce compliant products is evaluated. Therefore, the procedure frequently includes laboratory testing, factory production control, audits and regular production surveillance activities.
Testing is carried out by accredited laboratories using representative test samples according to applicable Technical Regulations and GOST standards. In addition, an accredited certification body evaluates the manufacturer’s production conditions, quality management processes and organizational procedures.
A key feature of serial production certification is recurring inspection control during the validity period of the certificate. This production surveillance ensures that serial manufacturing continuously complies with the originally certified conditions. Significant deviations may result in suspension or withdrawal of the certificate.
The validity period of an EAC serial production certificate is typically between one and five years, depending on the certification scheme. During this period, all products belonging to the certified production series may be legally placed on the market within the EAEU, provided that ongoing surveillance procedures are successfully completed.
Serial production certification differs significantly from batch certification. While batch certification applies only to a single shipment, serial certification allows continuous product distribution throughout the entire certificate validity period and significantly reduces long-term administrative effort.
In practice, insufficient quality management systems, undocumented production changes, material modifications without renewed regulatory assessment and incomplete technical documentation are among the most common issues during serial certification and inspection control procedures.
