Certification Cycle
The Certification Cycle describes the complete process of EAC certification — from the initial application and conformity assessment to certificate issuance, ongoing surveillance and recertification. For manufacturers and exporters, understanding the Certification Cycle is essential to ensure continuous and legally compliant market access within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
The Eurasian Economic Union includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. Within this common market, many products are subject to the Technical Regulations of the EAEU (TR EAEU / TR CU), which define detailed requirements for certification procedures, surveillance activities and certificate validity periods.
The Certification Cycle typically begins with:
- product analysis,
- identification of applicable Technical Regulations,
- selection of the appropriate certification scheme,
- and preparation of Technical Documentation.
The next stages may include:
- laboratory testing,
- document review,
- risk assessments,
- safety evaluations,
- as well as audits and production assessments performed by accredited organizations.
After successful conformity assessment, the accredited Certification Body issues the EAC Certificate or registers the EAC Declaration. Depending on the certification scheme, certificates are typically valid for one to five years.
For serial production certification, however, the certification process does not end with certificate issuance. Throughout the validity period, recurring:
- inspection controls,
- production surveillance,
- documentation updates,
- and manufacturing condition assessments
are regularly required.
These recurring surveillance activities ensure that:
- production remains consistently compliant,
- technical modifications are properly evaluated,
- and all applicable Technical Regulations continue to be fulfilled.
In the event of non-conformities or significant product changes, the Certification Body may:
- require additional testing,
- suspend the certificate,
- or revoke the certificate.
Once the certificate validity period expires, recertification becomes necessary. During recertification, the product undergoes renewed evaluation and the Certification Cycle effectively begins again.
The Certification Cycle is closely connected to Technical Documentation, production surveillance, inspection control, test reports and quality management systems. Continuous documentation management and deadline monitoring are essential for uninterrupted market access.
In practice, missed surveillance activities or delayed recertification often result in export interruptions, customs issues and additional certification costs.
We support manufacturers, exporters and importers in the complete planning and management of the Certification Cycle within the EAEU. Our services include deadline monitoring, coordination of testing and inspection controls, technical documentation, regulatory supervision and cooperation with accredited Certification Bodies and testing laboratories. This ensures legally compliant, reliable and continuous market access throughout the Eurasian Economic Union.
