EMC Test

An EMC test is a technical laboratory procedure used to verify the electromagnetic compatibility of an electrical or electronic product. EMC stands for Electromagnetic Compatibility and describes the ability of a device to operate correctly without causing unacceptable electromagnetic interference to other systems or being negatively affected by external electromagnetic disturbances. For many products, EMC testing is a mandatory requirement for EAC certification or EAC declaration within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The regulatory basis for EMC testing in the EAEU is primarily Technical Regulation TR CU 020/2011 – Electromagnetic Compatibility of Technical Equipment. Depending on the product category, Technical Regulation TR CU 004/2011 for low-voltage equipment may also apply. EMC tests are carried out by accredited laboratories according to applicable GOST standards and EAEU technical norms.

EMC testing mainly evaluates two key areas: electromagnetic emissions and immunity to external interference. The tests determine whether the electromagnetic signals generated by a product remain within permitted limits and whether the device can continue operating reliably when exposed to external electromagnetic influences. The objective is to ensure the safe and stable operation of technical systems in industrial, commercial and residential environments.

The results of EMC testing are documented in official test reports. These reports form part of the technical documentation required for conformity assessment and are reviewed by the certification body during the EAC certification or declaration process. Missing or inadequate EMC test reports are among the most common reasons for delays in EAC certification procedures for electrical products.

EMC requirements apply to a broad range of products, including machinery, control systems, industrial equipment, power supplies, electronic assemblies, household appliances and industrial automation or communication systems. The exact testing requirements vary significantly depending on product type and intended application.

We support manufacturers and exporters in the complete organization and coordination of EMC testing for the EAEU market. Our services include cooperation with accredited laboratories, preparation of technical documentation, selection of representative test samples and coordination of EAC certification or declaration procedures. This ensures legally compliant and reliable market access throughout the Eurasian Economic Union.
