Pressure Testing

Pressure testing is a technical testing procedure used to verify the strength, tightness and safety of pressure-containing components such as pressure vessels, pipelines, valves, heat exchangers and other pressure equipment. It is a key part of EAC conformity assessment procedures for products covered by Technical Regulation TR CU 032/2013 – Pressure Equipment. The purpose of the test is to demonstrate that the equipment can safely withstand intended operating conditions without posing risks to people, industrial facilities or the environment.

Pressure testing requirements are defined by the Technical Regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union (TR EAEU / TR CU) as well as applicable GOST standards and technical norms. In most cases, testing is performed as a hydraulic pressure test in which the equipment is subjected to a defined test pressure exceeding the maximum allowable operating pressure. Additional procedures such as leak testing, strength calculations or non-destructive testing methods may also be required. All testing procedures, pressure levels and results are documented in official test reports.

Pressure tests are generally performed by accredited laboratories or authorized inspection bodies. The test results subsequently become part of the technical documentation and are reviewed during the document assessment conducted by the certification body. For higher pressure equipment categories under TR CU 032/2013, conformity assessment requirements are significantly more extensive and may additionally involve audits or inspection procedures.

In practice, incorrect pressure calculations, incomplete material certificates or unsuitable testing procedures are among the most common causes of certification delays. Correct classification of the pressure equipment category is also essential because it determines whether an EAC declaration or EAC certificate is required.

We support manufacturers and exporters in selecting the correct conformity assessment procedure for pressure equipment and coordinate all required pressure testing activities through accredited testing laboratories. In addition, we review technical documentation, material certificates and test reports to ensure legally compliant and reliable market access within the EAEU.
